Turkish Airlines announced their new business class seats on new planes entering service this year earlier and I was excited that they are moving to a 1-2-1 layout on their Airbus A350 and Boeing B787 planes. Now, they have announced that they are planning to renovate their fleet of Boeing B777 planes and also introduce direct aisle access in business class!
I enjoy flying Turkish Airlines Business class for the great service and food onboard, but I’m not a fan of the old seats in a 2-3-2 layout, forcing some passengers into dreaded middle seats and leaving almost half the passengers without direct aisle access.
That situation will improve with new A350 and B787 receiving excellent seats in a 1-2-1 layout (see below):
At the time, no announcements were made with regards to the existing fleet. Now, Turkish Airlines revealed that they are planning new business class seats for their large fleet of Boeing B777 planes. To protect the economic viability, they are planning a high-density 2-3-2 layout, but with direct aisle access. A candidate is the Apex Suite as utilized on ANA All Nippon Air Business Class that utilizes the seat that deliver great privacy, direct aisle access and good sleep comfort (one of my favorite seats!).
While a final decision has not been made, Turkish Airlines expects the renovation to be completed in the next four years – I can’t wait and look forward to my first experience on a renovated Boeing B777!
