Breeze at Samaya, Bali
Bali is a great destination for a romantic getaway. A dinner along the beach with the most dramatic sunsets every night – what could be more romantic? The Breeze at Samaya pictured above is a fantastic place to have dinner – or stay.

The readers of Conde Naste Traveler just voted Siargao as the best island in Asia for 2018 – and I agree. With stunning waves for surfers, quiet beaches and wild mangroves, it offers a lot for nature and beach lovers who want to get away from the crowds. There is a single road going around the island and you won’t see any tour buses here. And where else can you stay in a private pool villa right on the beach for $250? Go now, while you can still enjoy this island paradise without the crowds and the sky high price tags!

Borneo is known for its nature and wildlife, but it also has some very nice beaches to relax on. A popular destination for soft sand and warm seas is Tunku Abdul Rahman National Park off the cost of Kota Kinabalu! It’s National Park Status protects it from over development, but not from big crowds, so make sure to go for a nice walk on the islands to find your own private beach!

I love sunsets anywhere, but they are magical on Bali. There is something about strolling along the beach at sunset, waves crashing onto the shore, lost in though…
Cambodia is popular among backpackers for its remote beaches – but it’s quickly offering much more. If you are traveling as a familiar or couple and want to be pampered in a resort without ever having to leave for food, entertainment, beach or massages, The Sokha Resort on (almost) private Sokha Beach is a good choice – find out more about Cambodia’s Best Beaches!
Kampot in Southern Cambodia is one of these towns that’s a much better experience than what you expect based on descriptions. It doesn’t have many man-made or natural sights to ah and oh about, yet the riverside setting and the relaxed vibe of the town will make you wish to stay longer than you had planned. It’s a place that’s … Continue reading
If you are looking for an unspoiled tropical paradise beach, without hordes of backpackers or plastic trash washed up on the shore, Long Set Beach on Koh Rong is your best bet. With few hotels, few visitors and a well maintained stretch of white sand, it’s as nice a beach as I’ve found in Cambodia.
Check out the alternatives in my review of the Best Beaches of Cambodia!
Cambodia’s Beaches are the latest, hottest trend for beaches in South East Asia and they are promised to be remote, uncrowded with white sand and warm waters – a tropical paradise. And indeed, you can still find a Robinson Crusoe paradise in Cambodia on Long Set Beach or Otres Beach – but not all beaches are created equal and some … Continue reading
Luang Prabang is one of the most peaceful and relaxing towns I know and my favorite “activity” is to watch the sunset over the majestic Mekong River from one of the countless restaurants and bars overlooking the river! Or, for a slightly better view (but shared with a lot more people), head up to Phuxi Mountain!
Read my Mini-Guide Luang Prabang to find out why you should go and how easy it is!
After a few days of fighting Bangkok traffic, touring the sites or exploring crowded malls, taking a break from the crowds seems like a great idea. But how do you escape the crowds in this busy city of more than 8 million people? You head to one of the parks that are a green oasis for a stroll, a snack … Continue reading
