Conde Nast has been conducting their “Reader’s Choice Awards” for more than 30 years and this year more than 600,000 readers selected their favorite airlines again: Singapore Airlines won for the 30th time, followed by Air New Zealand and Qatar Airways. Air New Zealand is the only surprise here, as they haven’t made the (more thorough) SkyTrax awards in years! Find the full list and my take below!
I publish the SkyTrax rating with all of my airline reviews as they are the broadest, most thorough rankings and reviews available in the market. But I always look for multiple sources to form a picture and Conde Nast’s “Reader’s Choice Awards” with now more than 600,000 voters is an excellent choice. Compared to SkyTrax, it probably is more skewed towards upscale, English speaking travelers – which may or may not reflect your needs.
Singapore Airline (SQ) is my favorite airline, has been a 5-star airline for years and wins awards from different sources on a regular basis. They are renown for their great onboard product, outstanding service and reliability. SQ sure earned this award, again.
Air New Zealand wins second place for their onboard product and service. They are considered a 4-star airline, so this came as a bit of a surprise for me, but they certainly have their fans! I’ll have to find an opportunity to fly with them again – I haven’t done so in years due to their route network.
Qatar Airways makes it to third place. They also are a 5-Star airline and won this year’s SkyTrax Best Airline Award, ahead of SQ. They have garnered top reviews from many frequent travelers and bloggers, so I’d count this as another “no surprise” ranking for them. I have a business class ticket booked for early next year and can’t wait to fly them, including their new QSuites product (hopefully)!
The other airlines rounding out the Top 15 airlines are as follows:
05. Turkish Airlines
07. Virgin Atlantic
09. Cathay Pacific
13. Air France
15. British Airways
