The best hotel promotions for this summer – Accor, IHG and SPG

Every (Northern) winter, the big hotel companies launch sales and promotions to fill their rooms in the slow times after the New Year and they can offer great value as you have seen with my successful promotion participation. In summer, the hotels tend to be full and the promotions level off. Some chains, like Marriott, […]

Did you like the photos of the coast of Anilao with it’s beautiful sunsets you saw here? Then you need a good hotel to enjoy your stay and the Vivere Azure is just that – a gorgeous boutique resort with modern rooms, great service and amazing views over the ocean…

Vamana Resort Gili Trawangan – great beach getaway!

Gili Trawangan was a late edition to my ASEAN Explorer trip – I wanted to some peace & quiet on the beach after lots of wildlife, adventure and city time at the beginning of my trip. And the Vamana Resort at the North Eastern tip of Gili T fit the bill: a small, independent boutique resort

Changes to the IHG Rewards Program coming up May 1 – act now!

The IHG Rewards program is one of my favorite hotel programs (you can read my review here) – they have lots of properties around the world, they run frequent rewards promotions (here) and you can get status and a free night per year with the Chase IHG Rewards MasterCard (here). It is the highest ranked hotel in Medan on Tripadvisor and is also the most expensive one (even though still below $100 or only 10,000 Marriott points/night) was a

For my return visit, I wanted to stay again in the historic part of Georgetown, with it’s narrow alleys, many restaurants and sights and public transport around the island. I chose the Chulia Mansion, a new addition with favorable reviews online – and I enjoyed it! Location: The Chulia Mansion is on  – you guessed

Accor still offers the best hotel promotions!

I recently reported on another Accor hotel promotion (here) – stay three times and get points worth EUR160! Of course I had to try and fit that into my ASEAN Explorer trip, courtesy of the AirAsia pass!

A nice room at a good price – Mercure Chaweng, Ko Samui

My first visit to Ko Samui was a bit of a last-minute change of plans and I had to find a hotel on Chaweng beach quickly. As this was part of the ASEAN Explorer budget-y trip, I settled on the Mercure Chaweng Tana Resort, and it was a good choice.

Stop-over in Kuala Lumpur? ibis styles might be the answer!

On my recent ASEAN Explorer trip, I had to make two stop-overs in Kuala Lumpur, their biggest hub. While I like KL, I wasn’t planning on spending a lot of time there on this trip and just needed hotel for one night each. Because I also had (another) Accor promotion going on, the ibis styles
