New IHG Hotel on Bali – Indigo Seminyak

IHG has six hotels on Bali, several Holiday Inn and HI Express Hotels, as well as an InterContinental. The latest addition is the Indigo Seminyak – it’s in a great location, looks amazing – but comes at a very high price. Find out if it is worth booking (yet).

I have stayed frequently at IHG Hotels on Bali – their hotels often start under $40/night, which makes them great to stay at for promotion. They recently lost the Holiday Inn Express Kuta Circle (which is now the Zia Bali Kuta). But they just opened a more upscale hotel, the Indigo Seminyak!

The location of the Indigo is great. Of the lively Southern Bali beaches stretching from Kuta to Legian and Seminyak, Seminyak is my favorite: It’s the newest and most upscale neighborhood and also has the nicest beach. The Indigo is located just of famous Double Six Beach, putting it close to plenty of nice restaurants, bars and shopping!
The Indigo offers 270 rooms. They start at a generous size of 50sqm and have balconies with daybeds. Similar to other Indigo properties, the furniture is very modern and stylish!
You also have a choice of suites and 19 stunning villas with private pools offering 300 sqm of personal space!
The hotel also has a lounge, spa and full gym, offering all the amenities of a luxury hotel. Those rooms, location and amenities come at a steep price: For the time of an upcoming Bali trip, the rates started at $300 – that’s a high price on Bali where you can find a Sofitel or Conrad luxury hotel for around $150! I have seen this for other new hotels on Bali – they start at very high prices they hope to achieve, over the few months of being open face the harsh and very competitive reality the Bali hotel market is and settle into a competitive price point. The IHG Rewards Club price of 30,000 points per night (approx. value of $150) is a more realistic price for these rooms!

You can check out the hotel details and current prices here! At a price of $300/night I’d recommend to pass – there are better options on Bali and I’d suggest to wait for the Indigo prices to settle. If you are curious to check it out and are an IHG Rewards Club member, I recommend to book it with points in the meantime, it’s much better value on points!
