Wyndham has been making ongoing changes to their Wyndham Rewards program – and they have been mostly true enhancements. The latest positive change – without announcement – is the introduction of online booking of award stays at their upscale Dolce Hotels – which had to be done awkwardly over the phone so far!
One of the reasons many bloggers and frequent travelers have been ignoring Wyndham Rewards, despite being rated as the top hotel rewards program for value, is that they have few upscale hotels worth redeeming points at. That’s not quite true as they acquired the upscale Dolce brand with very nice hotels like the Silverado Resort in Napa Valley, California. But it was hard to book them via the phone.
Now, the Dolce website has been updated and allows you to book both GoFree awards at 15,000 points/night and GoFast awards at 3,000 points plus a cash-copay! I noticed it when I looked at hotels in Napa Valley – and quickly checked out if I can actually complete the booking on the Dolce site – and it does work!
It also includes foreign hotels – I checked a European resort destination and found both GoFast and GoFree awards bookable online!
I value Wyndham Rewards points at 1ct/pt and a stay at some of these upscale hotels is great value. The Silverado Napa Resort was $311 per night – or 15,000 points for half off! If you don’t have any Wyndham Rewards points, you can currently buy 15,000 points for $175 at the Daily Getaway Promotion – still a great saving over the cash price!
Do bring a little patience though – the new site is still buggy and it takes a little back & forth to get the rates to display, the Rewards account information to be accepted and book the actual rewards night – but that’s a small price to pay for the great value you’ll get and it’s much easier than over the phone!
It’s always good to see genuine improvement to rewards programs and being able to book the upscale Dolce properties online is great – it makes it easier to enjoy their nicest hotels and to get even more value out of the Wyndham Rewards.
