AirBerlin Q400Facts & Figures: Air Berlin (AB) is based at Germany’s Berlin Tegel (TXL) airport. They are one of the top 10 airlines in Europe and serve a total of 119 destinations in 37 countries with a fleet of 133 planes! They have recently agreed to wet-lease some of their planes to Lufthansa and to a leisure airline (read here)!
SkyTrax rates Air Berlin as a 3-star airline (out of 5) and AirlineRatings gives them their top 7 of 7 rating for safety, so you can be comfortable flying them!
You can find all the facts and figures about their destinations, fleet and whether you should care, in my detailed post here!

AirBerlin BusinessCabinThe Experience: Air Berlin has been positioned somewhere between a low-cost carrier and a full-service network, but recently decided to focus on their full-service network (read here). Both, their short- and long-haul flights will offer economy and business class cabins. They still offer bare bones tickets, requiring you to pay for luggage, seat assignment and your food extra. Business Class offers the typical (European) economy class with empty middle seat on single-aisle planes and fully flat seats on long-haul flights, competitive with other network carriers, premium meals that you can pre order and even lounges at their key airports. You can find my detailed review of a short-haul economy class flight here! I have booked a Business Class flight for later this year and will report how it goes!

AirBerlinTopBonus Logo - 1The Rewards: The other differentiator for Air Berlin from low-cost carriers is their rewards program topbonus – it is competitive with other network airlines and as a member of OneWorld, Air Berlin gives you access to more than 1,000 destinations through their partners. The two best things about the topbonus program are how easy it is to earn miles with many partners, often without spending a penny, and the regular top deal promotions, offering deeply discounted award tickets! It’s worth signing up just for these reasons and you can find out all the details here!
