Save up to 50% of award flights with Singapore Airlines Spontaneous Escapes

When Singapore Airlines devalued their KrisFlyer loyalty program, they also offered a little bit of good news by making their popular Spontaneous Escapes a permanent feature of their KrisFlyer program. Now, the first release of the permanent version is out! While it isn’t as spectacular as the announcements made it sound, there are some good deals on flights from Barcelona and Rome in Business Class and on flights around Asia-Pacific! Find out if there are some gems among it for your travel plans!

The most recent Spontaneous Escapes can be booked through February 28th, 2019 for flights from March 1-31, 2019. That short notice may be a problem for longer trips further away, but alas, such are “spontaneous” escapes. Economy tickets are 50% of the regular saver rates and Business Class tickets are available at the regular Economy Saver award prices for those routes. Keep in mind that the discounts are sometimes available for one direction, for example you get a discount from Rome to Singapore, but have to pay full price from Singapore to Rome, so calculate your savings carefully!

The absolute cheapest route available is from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur for only 3,750 miles one-way in economy. Keep in mind that that routes is one of the busiest in the world, very competitive and tickets are often less than $50 one-way, so even half the miles may still not be a good use of miles.

Flying in Singapore Airline’s Business Class is generally one of the best uses of KrisFlyer miles – it’s a fantastic product and often very expensive on cash rates. In March, you can fly from Singapore to Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Auckland for 28,000 miles one-way and both directions are available.

You can also fly from Rome and Barcelona in Business Class for only 38,000 miles one-way – a very good deal, but only available one direction – the return will cost you the full 92,000 miles for a total of 130,000 miles round-trip.

A good part of the KrisFlyer Rewards Program is the fact that you can easily transfer miles from US credit card programs, including Citi ThankYou, AmEx Membership Rewards and Chase Ultimate Rewards.
