IHG Rewards summer 2018 promotion: Earn 5,000 or 10,000 points per stay!

In InterContinental Hotel Group’s (IHG) promotion calendar is usually a hole in August – with one of the popular Accelerate promotions ending in July and the next one starting in September. Instead, IHG Rewards Club is offering two promotions, offering 5,000 or 10,000 bonus per stay! Find out the details of the  promotion to keep earning IHG Rewards points!

The “Easy as Summer” promotion offers up to 5,000 bonus points for stays in North and South America until September 16, 2018, starting with your second qualifying stay (rewards stays don’t qualify!). You’ll earn 2,000 points at Holiday Inn Express, Holiday Inn, Staybridge and Candlewood Suites. At the more upscale InterContinental, Kimpton, Indigo, Even and Crowne Plaza brands, you’ll earn 5,000 points. You can earn up to a total of 30,000 bonus points during the promotion period. This “new & featured hotels” promotion is similar to Accor LeClub’s standing promotion of offering 4x the points for stays at select new hotels – a great idea to give newly opened properties some extra exposure. IHG offers 10,000 bonus points per stay, but the deal is a little more difficult to take advantage off: The promotion site only lists a small number of participating hotels and leaves you to guess with trial & error where else it might apply. It does use a special rate code, so searches will clearly show whether you will earn the bonus or not!

Some of the new hotels are the Even Hotel Seattle or the Hotel Indigo Harrisburg. Among the featured properties are the InterContinental Times Square New York – which I stayed at and enjoyed for its great location!
