This is the season to be jolly – and the big hotel chains are all trying to help with hotel deals for the winter and next year. With the holiday season now starting in September (at least in the Philippines) and Black Friday Sales in the US expanding to most of November, there quite a few opportunities to save on hotel stays with Starwood, Intercontinental Hotels, Fairmont and booking site Travelocity!
Starwood is offering a sale through December 4th, 2016 with discounts of up to 35% off for stays through September 4th, 2017. That includes the busy summer season, so if you can plan that far ahead, it might be a good chance to spend the Thanksgiving weekend planning your next big trip! You can find participating hotels and prices here!
Fairmont Hotels, which was recently acquired by the Accor Group (read my analysis here), is running a sale of their eGift Card. You can buy cards valued from $25 – $2000 (CAD or USD) for a total shopping cart value of $5000 on November 25th, 1-4pm EST. You will receive a 20% Bonus eGift Card free with purchase. The gift cards don’t expire and can be used for hotel stays, restaurants or spa appointments, making them very flexible and an interesting deal, especially if there is a Fairmont near you!
IHG Hotels gives you a little more time to make your purchase. Their Cyber Monday sale starts on November 28th, 8:00am EST and ends on December 2nd, 8:00pm EST. They don’t have any information on participating hotels or the size of the discounts, so I’d add it to the “list of places to check” next week. Travelocity is offering a Black Friday deal with 50% of the rates and $500 of specific hotels. It’s only available on November 25th, starting at 9am CST. The fine print says that the deal starts at the corresponding time in the property’s time zone. So, if you are looking for hotels in Asia or Europe, it pays to check early to get a head-start. There is no additional information on participating hotels or conditions, but at these discounts, it’s worth adding to your list of places to check. Go to Travelocity Black Friday Deals at the time!
I’d recommend to lay out the plans for your next big trip now, find some hotels that would work for you and take down their prices now. Not all “50% discounts” are the same – some are real discounts, others are calculated from rack rates that nobody ever pays, resulting in a much smaller discount.
