Near my office in Bonifacio Global City, a new restaurant was under construction with the window covers promising the “best pizza” in Manila. When Motorino Pizza finally opened, we had to of course try it. Read my review to find out, if it is really the best pizza in town!

Motorino is located on 28th & 5th, just one block of Bonifacio High Street in the NetPark Complex, right next to the Ascott Residences and Luxe Residences. It’s a convenient location before watching a movie at the nearby cinema or a stroll down High Street. The restaurant design is simple, yet stylish, with a floor-to-ceiling glass front to the driveway, black & white tile floors and bistro style seating. The blackboards and silver tin ceiling give it a nice, modern touch. We took a seat by the window and had our menus immediately. The service was friendly and more upscale than I’d expect at a pizza place: the staff was very attentive, kept our wine and water glasses filled and paced the meal just right.
Motorino specializes in pizza and also has a good selection of salads, appetizers and desserts. We decided on the “dinner special for two”, including a salad as starter, a choice of 13 inch pizza and a bottle of red wine for P1,100 ($24) for two.
The salad was fresh and crisp with a balsamic vinaigrette dressing. The Cabernet Sauvignon arrived with the appetizer and was very good considering the price! Our salami pizza was certainly the highlight of the dinner. The crust is thin and with just a touch of a burn on the outside, perfectly done throughout. The tomato sauce and cheese are tasty, thinly applied and of perfect consistency. There was plenty of salami with a nice saltiness to it. While you can certainly argue about the “best in town” label – there is a surprising number of great pizza places in Manila – it is a very good pizza and I’m pretty sure we’ll be back to try some of the other options. And the dinner special is great value – in most restaurants you’ll pay this much for a bottle of wine of similar quality. I recommend to give it a try while you can get a table easily and they have the special – it’s great pizza at a great price.
