Beachfront resort near Bali’s airport – Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali

The Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali is right on the beach, near the airport, and offers a big pool, direct beach access and sunset views at a reasonable rate. If you have a stop-over and want to stay near the airport in a resort setting steps from the beach, the Holiday Inn Baruna is a good choice! Read my snapshot review of the Holiday Inn Bali to find out if it is right for you!

Location: The Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali is located close to the airport (10 minutes taxi, 20 minutes walk) and right on the beach! The beach is not that nice though, it isn’t cleaned as well as in Kuta or Legian, there are plenty of rocks and boats tied up in front. You can reach the main beach at Kuta via a paved boardwalk in about 15-20 minutes. Along the beach and the road are a few independent restaurants, shops and massage places. This location works best if you have a short stop-over before or after a flight and want access to the beach, without being in the midst of Kuta!

Room: The Holiday Inn offers large rooms in the typical brand style, with light colored wood, tiled floors and bright green accents. It all looks pretty modern, but doesn’t have much of a Bali flavor. The room I looked at had two twin beds, a work desk and chair, as well as a small balcony and chair. Each room has a TV, safe, iron & iron board and coffee/tea facilities.
The bathroom has a glass window to the bedroom for extra light and is held in beige/brown tiles. On the left side is the sink-in-countertop with enough space for all your toiletries. In the center is the toilet and to the right is an all-glass shower. It’s all pretty modern, clean and well maintained.

I also looked at large, more private suites, with plenty of room for a family of four people and large balconies facing the garden.

Amenities & Restaurant: The Holiday Inn is a full service resort with all the amenities you’d expect. There is a main restaurant at the ground floor, overlooking the pool, as well as an ocean front restaurant with views of the beach and sunset. The latter would be my favorite for the peaceful setting and niece views.
The large resort-style pool is great for a family vacation, with lots of loungers and umbrellas around it to hang out all day and a play pool area with a basketball hoop. It spreads out enough, so it didn’t feel crowded, even during high-season.
The gym is also quite large, with plenty of cardio and weight equipment for a full workout.

The hotel offers spa services, so you don’t have to leave the resort, if you don’t want to!

Bottomline: At a price of $120/night during my visit, the Holiday Inn Resort Baruna Bali was almost 3 times as expensive as the Holiday Inn Express. For that you get a slightly bigger and nicer room and the comfort of being right on the beach with a large pool and all the amenities, you’ll never have to leave the resort.
I’d recommend it for families or anybody who wants to spend 1-2 nights near the airport on the beach to be pampered without leaving the resort. For a longer resort-stay vacation on Bali, I’d recommend the much nicer Nusa Dua. If you are not planning to be at the hotel all day, you can save a lot of money by staying at the very nice Holiday Inn Express Baruna next door!
