Accor Hotels and Flying Blue, the awards program of KLM and Air France have had a partnership for years, allowing you to convert hotel points to airline miles for award flights. Now, they have enhanced their partnership and you earn Flying Blue miles for your Accor hotel stays and vice versa. In the world of miles & points, earning more is always better, so I’ve signed up! Find out how it works below!
After Marriott and United and others, Accor and KLM/Air France are now also offering increased miles earning for their members.
In addition to the regular points you earn in the Accor LeClub loyalty program for staying at their hotels, you’ll also earn 1 mile in the Flying Blue program for every Euro spent.
Similarly, for every 2 Euros you spent with KLM or Air France, you’ll earn an additional rewards point in the Accor program.
These enhancements (and yes, they deserve the name for a change) are especially interesting for Accor and Flying Blue members in Europe who utilize both of them regularly.
While I’m a Flying Blue member, I rarely fly them and earn few points with them. Because Flying Blue has a very restrictive expiration rule and all points expire 3 years after earning them, regardless of activity, this is not very helpful for me. But Flying Blue has lots of credit card partners, like Citi Prestige ThankYou points, so I could top up my account for an award trip that way.
Unfortunately, the partnership doesn’t allow you to match status in the partner program. While for example Gold Status with United MileagePlus will give you Marriott Bonvoy Gold status, there is no such perk with Accor. That’s certainly something they should consider in the future!
Alas, as I said at the beginning, in the world of miles & points, earning more is always better, so if you are a member in either program, you should register for this at this site!
