During our visit to Manila’s City of Dreams, we stayed at the Hyatt Manila hotel and were looking for a place to start off the evening with cocktails. The perfect spot in a relaxed setting with a chance to watch the sunset is the Wave bar and restaurant on the rooftop. Read my review to find out more!

Wave is a bar and restaurant on level 1 of the City of Dreams complex, located between the Hyatt and Nobu pools. It serves as the pool bar, delivering lunch or daytime snacks to either pool and also has a full cocktail menu in the evening. The best feature of the bar is the location on the rooftop with a view of the sunset over Manila Bay. I love sunsets and I prefer the outdoor setting to the boring Hyatt lobby bar or the casino setting for a romantic evening.
Wave is outdoors only, with a mix of bistro style tables and some lounge style seating. During our February visit, the weather was perfect. The service was very quick and attentive and we had the menus in a minute. The menus are quite innovative with built-in lighting, perfect for the evening setting.
We picked two cocktails, a “Manila Vice” and a margarita, and potato wedges and calamari as snacks to go with them. Both cocktails were pretty good – the Manila Vice a mix of a strawberry daiquiri and a pina colada was huge! The snacks were a positive surprise in terms of quality and much better than your average bar food. The potato wedges were crisp and came with a sour cream, the calamari were tasty and perfectly done.
The prices were reasonable compared to other dining choices at the City of Dreams, but very expensive for Manila standards – two cocktails and two snacks were about P2,000 or USD45. You can find the full menu and price list here!
