So, you have proposed to the love of your life or renewed your vows – and now you want to plan the perfect honeymoon? Don’t worry, I have you covered. Read below my choice for the top five romantic getaways around the world, for different interests and different budgets! From luxury hotels on private islands to the most romantic city on the planet, you are sure to find something to get it right for your loved one!
If there is one perfect beach destination that offers beauty, exclusivity and privacy, it is Bora Bora. The natural beauty of the mountainous island and green lagoon combined with overwater bungalows offered by luxurious hotels will make for a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a honeymoon you won’t forget. Read my detailed review here and get inspired by some of the photos. Much of the experience will depend on the hotel you stay at – so check out the InterContinental Bora Bora Resort & Thalasso Spa!
It’s a tough fight at the top and I’m sure many would vote the Maldives to the top of the honeymoon charts! With many hotels on a private islands (or two), beautiful beaches, warm water and amazing hotels, it’s hard to find people who didn’t love their trip to the Maldives – I sure did! You can check out the Conrad Rangali as a great hotel for your romantic getaway.
Palawan has been named the most beautiful island and has more recently garnered raving reviews from the media and celebrities. At the Northern end of the province, you find small islands with beautiful hotels. You can even have your private island for lunch or dinner, if you really want to be alone! You can’t have more privacy than that! And all of that comes at a price point much less than Bora Bora or Maldives. Check out the Busuanga Bay Lodge as an affordable option. Don’t worry, if it just has to be an overwater villa, that can also be had at Huma Island Resort (which I still have to try)!
If the beach is just not right for you, don’t fret – you can have an amazing getaway to Ubud. You’ll find peace and privacy, surrounded by forest and rice paddies. Ubud has been voted as one of the easiest places to “get stuck in” and you can read why in my review here. And the best thing is, you can enjoy it all at whatever budget you have – you can rent a house in the rice paddies for $30/night, enjoy a private pool villa at The Lokha for a fraction of what it is elsewhere or be pampered at the Four Seasons – in either case you can focus on Eat, Play, Love and enjoy all that Ubud has to offer!
If you have a city trip in mind with all the excitement and entertainment only a big metropolis can offer, there is no more romantic city than Paris – where even the coffee spells love! You can read about my favorite things to see and do here. And to make that romantic getaway special, you can pick a hotel in a quiet neighborhood, like Le Dhokan’s, and enjoy the city more like a local. You can enjoy Paris at different budgets – just plan enough money for your shopping – it will be inevitable! “Paris is always a good idea!” said Audrey Hepburn and I agree!
Everybody and every couple is unique and so will be each romantic getaway. So, if my Top Five don’t excite you – please comment with your personal favorite below or email me with what you are looking for: I’m sure I can come up with a recommendation that fits your interests!
