Hoi An is my favorite destination in Vietnam, offering the flair of the old town as well as access to beautiful beaches. And the Cozy Hoian Boutique Villas is a great base to explore both without breaking the bank. It offers cute rooms, great service, good breakfast and a refreshing pool in a convenient location at a bargain price, making this an easy recommendation and a place I’d return to in a heartbeat.
Location: The Cozy Hoian Boutique Villas is located on the edge of Hoi An’s old town on a quiet side street. It’s a few minutes walk to the riverfront and about 10-15 minutes walk to the markets, shops and restaurants in the old town. This makes it a great location – very quiet, but convenient enough to explore Hoi An on foot.
The trip to/from Da Nang Airport takes 45min – 1h and is about $10. The beaches of Hoi An, like popular Anbang are about 30 minutes by bike and hotel guests can rent bikes for free.
Service: The hotel staff is very friendly and attentive, genuinely interested in making sure you have a good time. I received a warm welcome to the hotel and my paperwork was processed while seated in the lobby. I received an introduction to Hoi An, with tips for shops, restaurants sights and beaches, making it very easy. Staff escorted me to my room and explained the amenities. Throughout my stay, staff was just as friendly and attentive and would check in every day during breakfast to see how I enjoyed my stay or if I needed any assistance. Housekeeping was thorough in cleaning my room each day and replacing amenities.
I was very impressed by the service – even 5-star luxury hotels will have a hard time doing better than this and it’s a big part of the enjoyable stay at the Cozy Hoian Boutique Villas.
Room: My standard room with a balcony has a queen-size bed that takes up most of the compact room. The high headboard is decorated with the signature lanterns you find all over Hoi An, a nice local touch. There is a single chair by the window and two small chairs with a table out on the balcony.
The balcony would be a nice place to spend the sunset or to read a book, but during my stay there were two construction projects in front and to the side, making it less attractive. I’d expect the construction to continue for at least another year, although it didn’t have a big impact on my stay – work only occurred during daytime.
Across from the bed are a make up table with a stool that can double as a work desk in a pinch. A narrow sideboard lines the wall with room for small items and the TV is mounted above.
Near the entrance are a small closet with a laptop-size safe, bath robes, umbrellas and a hairdryer, as well as a minibar and the coffee/tea facilities.
The key is required to turn on the electricity, so it takes a little to cool the room down on arrival, but the a/c works well and allows for a (very) cold room.
The bedroom is held in light floor tiles, white walls and dark wood furniture. The lantern decor, bed throw and decorative pillows add a friendly dash of color. Large windows to the balcony as well as an additional window across from the bed let in a lot of light for a bright feeling. Unfortunately, the curtains are not blackout blinds and let in light early in the morning, too.
The bathroom is compact as well, with a fully glass enclosed shower on one side, the toilet in the center and the vanity with sink-in-cabinet to the other side. There are several lamps as well as a window for plenty of light and fresh air. It’s held in light-colored tiles and dark wood and everything looks clean and well maintained. A full set of basic toiletries, including dental kits, comb, etc as well as good quality towels are provided.
The free WiFi internet was fast with an average speed of 9.6Mbps, but unreliable. The connection in my room was to weak to connect and I had to work from the restaurant.
Restaurant & Amenities: The Cozy Villa has a small pool with a row of loungers & umbrellas set in shallow water to relax. The water is quite cool, the loungers are comfortable and pool towels are provided. The pool is a nice feature for the price category in Hoi An.
The hotel also has a number of simple bicycles available for guests at no charge. They are a great way to explore Hoi An or go to the beach. The bikes are simple, but new and seemed well maintained. When they ran out of the “new” bikes one day and I wasn’t comfortable with the old one they offered, the got a bike from a neighbor at no charge – more great service!
The small restaurant at the ground floor has open-air indoor and outdoor seating.
The breakfast buffet has a selection of fresh fruit, pastries, cold cuts as well as coffee, tea and juice. You can order eggs as well for a full and satisfying breakfast. The quality and selection are fine for the price category.
Value & Rewards: I booked the Cozy Hoian Boutique Villas via agoda.com at a rate of $41/night including breakfast. Considering the nice room, good location, pool and great service that is fantastic value and I’d highly recommend it. I earned 4% in Agoda Cashback. You can find the current prices here!
Bottomline: The Cozy Hoian Boutique Villas offers cute rooms, great service, good breakfast and a refreshing pool in a convenient location at a bargain price, making this an easy recommendation and a place I’d return to in a heartbeat.
