On my first visit to Warsaw, I picked my first dinner restaurant based on its location – when I travel solo, I like to people watch in a busy spot while having a meal and the Kawiarnia Cava hit the spot with its location on busy Nowy Swiat and Foksal. Lots of people stroll along the street with its wide sidewalks to shop, eat or on their way to the Old Town. On the nice weekend day, lots of locals and visitors were out and about, enjoying what Warsaw has to offer. Cava has indoor and outdoor seating and I picked a table outside, giving me a chance to watch people strolling by.
The staff was quick to bring a menu and take my order. The menu has lots of coffee and cake during the day and a mix of pasta, salads and small dishes for the evening. I picked a pasta with a glass of wine. The pasta was cooked al dente, just right, and the sauce was tasty. It was a basic, Italian dish like you can find it anywhere around the world – I had nothing to complain. The price for food and drink was a little high for Warsaw, owing to the great location, but still a good deal compared to other European capitals!
If you want to get a sense of Warsaw and its people by watching people walk by, Cava is a nice place for breakfast, coffee or a light dinner in the evening. The location is great, the ambience is pleasant and the food is good. If you are looking for the best food in Warsaw, this isn’t it, but the location makes it a good choice!
