Park Plaza Hotels – Stylish Hotels without the “Boutique” price tag…

I was so impressed with the design of the art’otel Dresden by ParkPlaza that I actually designed one of my bathrooms at home after it! Ever since, Park Plaza has been one of my favorite hotel chains – they offer stylish accommodations in central city locations without breaking the bank.

So, who are they?

In their own words, “Park Plaza® hotels’ trend-setting designs capture the energy and style of each individual location. An upscale hotel brand for business and leisure travelers, Park Plaza offers stylish guest rooms, outstanding meeting spaces and dedicated staff who live the brand’s value proposition by going out of their way to show their appreciation to guests.”

They are part of the Carlson group of hotels, positioned between the high-end Radisson Blu chain and the more economic Park Inn group. There are currently 48 Park Plaza hotels around the world, mostly in Europe and some in Asia. They also have a sub-brand, art’otel, with 6 hotels in Germany and Hungary. While that is not enough to make Park Plaza your “go-to” chain, they are worth keeping on your list to look out for. Park Plaza hotels typically offer very stylish rooms and public areas and are full-service, including restaurant/bar, meeting rooms and a fitness center, some with a pool. Compared to many American chain hotels, you are getting a more stylish, upscale room at a mid-range price.

The art’otels take the style even further and provide permanent, modern art exhibitions throughout the hotels and room, focused on one artist per hotel. Each of the hotels provides a very unique experience and will put any other chain hotel to shame, all at a mid-range price! I have gone out of my way (literally) to stay at these hotels in Germany and Hungary. If you plan to travel anywhere near their locations and have even a remote interest in art, I suggest you make a stay at one of their hotels a part of your travel plans.

Park Plaza participates in the Club Carlson rewards program, so you can cash in points earned for business trips to (far less exciting) Radisson or Country Inn stays or credit card points for stays in these exciting hotels, making your next trip to Europe or Asia a lot more fun! Check out the Club Carlson rewards program here and the Club Carlson credit card here.

There are also ways to get even better rates at these hotels through publicly available promotions: Carlson has an ongoing 2-for-1 weekend promotion for Club Carlson Gold members (use rate code RSGP1P1) as well as a rate for family & friends of Carlson employees (rate code CARLSONF).
