I love rooftop bars, especially at sunset – there is something about the view and the calm that comes at sunset that makes for a nice evening. Combine that with a happy hour and it can’t be beat! The Seda Hotel in Manila’s Fort Bonifacio Global City neighborhood opened it’s rooftop bar – and guess what, they have a great happy hour at sunset!
The Seda Hotel is owned by the Ayala Group and is a new brand of upscale boutique hotels that add a stylish touch to the hotel scene in the Philippines. Their Fort Bonifacio property is located just of High Street, near Serendra, a great area for an evening of shopping, eating and entertainment.
On their rooftop, they run a stylish bar and lounge, with nice furniture, great lighting and a nice view over the city, just far enough from the hustle & bustle below. It certainly is an upscale setting and the perfect place to start the evening. We picked seats near the railing for an unobstructed view. Despite the bar being pretty busy, including a large group, it wasn’t loud, so you could go as a couple to kick of a romantic evening as well!
They offer a pretty long list of cocktails, wine and beer, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding something to enjoy. They do offer a “bottomless” wine buffet with a selection of red and white wine – if you are just 2-3 people, that’s a great alternative to getting a bottle of wine to allow for individual choices!
The happy hour, daily from 6:00-8:00pm, offers a buffet of canapes to go with any alcoholic drinks. Often, that type of buffet includes a small selection of cheap snacks, not worth writing about, but not so at the Seda: During our two visits, they each time had a nice selection of hot dishes, including pasta, pizza, sandwiches and some meat dish. And every dish we tried was of very good quality, something you’d expect from a high-end restaurant, but not a happy hour buffet!
We all really enjoyed the well mixed cocktails, the wine and the food to make for a great after-work evening out. Between the beautiful rooftop setting, the good food and drink and friendly service, you get everything you’d ask for and had a overall good price, considering the total at the end of the evening! If you are planning a romantic date or an evening out with friends, you should consider the Seda bar – it’s my new favorite rooftop bar in Manila!
