Bali is known for its many beaches and there is something for everybody. From the party beach of Kuta in the South to the quiet Lovina Beach on the North Shore and the little Gili Islands, there is something to fit your idea of the perfect beach getaway. On arrival from Europe, you check into a mid-scale hotel near the airport, like the Hilton Garden Inn (if you are a points traveler) or the Holiday Inn Express Kuta Square to relax from your flight and fill up on any necessities you didn’t pack, before heading to the remote Gili Islands by speed boat the next morning.
You’ll be able to forget your work and the bad European weather while you enjoy flying over the waves to the Robison Crusoe’esque Gili Islands. From the very quiet Gili Air to the a little more developed Gili Trawangan, you’ll have nice & simple accommodations right on the beach, time to enjoy water sports or scuba diving and a chance to relax for 6 nights. You’ll can have great food from restaurants steps from the water or have inexpensive massages before you have a good night’s sleep.
After a few days on the beach, it’s time to see the other side of Bali: You take the speedboat back to Bali and on to Ubud in the center of the island! You check into a small hotel with Balinese style and friendliness, like the Padma Ubud Retreat, your hideout among forests and rice paddies. A private driver will take you to explore the beautiful temples along the lakes and mountains further North – I’m sure they will leave some lasting impressions!
On the following days, you can explore this peaceful town: You enjoy walks through the quiet forests and rice paddies, do yoga or meditation at a retreat or have a few more massages. There are lots of good restaurants here as well, like the excellent Kebun Bistro and staying in Ubud will allow you to see it’s best side after the day-trippers have left! You’ll also have a chance to watch a traditional dance show in the evening!
With relaxation on the beach and in the quiet forests and rice paddies of the island; enriched by the historic and cultural insights of your sightseeing, it’s time to head back to the airport at Denpasar for your flight home!
