This week’s Deal Dispatch brings you the best deal of the year from San Francisco to Manila, a chance to stock up on Lonely Planet guides to plan your next trip, savings exclusive to American Express credit card holders and
Flights: Flights to Asia have been unusably cheap this year, often under $800, but this weeks deal takes the cake: You can fly for only $633 round-trip on ANA from San Francisco to Manila! It’s the same price from San Jose and only $618 from Los Angeles! This is valid from September to November 2015 and January to April of 2016 for Sunday to Thursday departures – a big window! It includes all taxes and fees. ANA is a good airline, much better than the big 3 US carriers or some of the other budget alternatives to Asia. You can read my review here! If you ever wanted to visit Manila, now is the time! You can find all the details on TheFlightDeal!
Guidebooks: If you missed the last Lonely Planet sale, here is another chance: For the month of July you can save 30% of all paper books in store, eBooks and even individual chapters. You can stock up to plan your next trip (or two or three). I especially like the sales that include digital chapters – if you are planning a trip to a single destination, you can safe a lot of money by just downloading that chapter for a few bucks instead of buying a whole country guide! You can browse your options and be inspired here!
AmEx Offers: There is a nice saving feature that comes with any American Express card, including the Hilton AmEx (reviewed here). On your home page when logging into your account online, you will have a list of offers and discounts when you pay for your card. These can vary from $5 off for a purchase on Amazon or Apple to larger savings for travel. Currently, there is an offer to save $75 off any Hilton Hotel stay of more than $350 – that’s more than 20% off whatever rate you are paying, so it stacks with other sales, making it a very nice extra saving – it’ll pay for a nice dinner at your destination!
