Deal Dispatch: Delta $874 to So. Africa, Emirates $499 to Europe, Zoom Camera $119

This week’s Deal Dispatch brings you flight deals to South Africa and Taiwan for under $1000, as well as a good deal on a bridge camera with a 36x zoom to take photos when your smartphone can’t! And if you want to prepare for your trip, Lonely Planet has a 3-for-2 sale across all guide book formats!

Flights: Delta currently offers a round-trip flight from Los Angeles to Johannesburg, South Africa for only $874 for travel from October 26th – December 6th or January 10th, 2016 – March 31st, 2016. That’s an unusually low fare for flights to South Africa. It’s also one of the most convenient from the West Coast because it is only one-stop in Atlanta, followed by one of the longest flights on the planet to Johannesburg (JNB)! JNB is a great base to explore Southern Africa – check out my trip from Cape Town to Victoria Falls for some inspiration! You can find more details on TheFlightDeal!
The next deal is a 2-for-1 deal from Emirates: Two people can fly from New York to Milan, Italy, for $998 ($499 per person) round-trip in Economy or $3,800 ($1,900pp) in Business Class! Milan is a great city, for sight seeing, culture and of course shopping. You could take a tour of the Alpine lakes in the North or the rolling hills of the Tuscany to the South. It’s also a low-cost carrier hub, so you can reach other destinations across Europe for little money! Check out all the details on  TheFlightDeal!

Hotels: Hilton’s Summer Sale for hotels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East is coming to an end! You have until August 23rd to save up to 30% on a room! I made use of for upcoming stays in Warsaw and Berlin! If you have a trip to Europe coming up, check it out here!

Gear: If you are going on a nature trip, like Etosha National Park or Sabah and Sarawak on Borneo, you’ll need a good zoom camera to get shots of wild life! A bridge zoom gives you a long zoom lens without the bulk of a DSLR, for example the Fuji FinePix S8600, currently available at Amazon for $120. Even if you rely on your smartphone for most of your photos, it’s worth the small investment for a once-in-a-lifetime trip!
And if you still want to do some planning, Lonely Planet has another sale, this time offering 3-for-2 (or 33% off) across all formats, including paper books as well as electronic downloads of whole books or individual chapters! You can start shopping here!
