The U.S. Travel Association organizes a huge sale of travel every year. Over the next five weeks you can buy hotel stays, car rentals or entertainment park tickets at big discounts. Every day a different item is on sale, today you can buy Club Carlson points for stays at the Radisson Blu, Park Plaza or any of their other brands. On Friday Hilton HHonors points are on sale and next week other hotels or Universal Studio tickets are on sale.
Many bloggers are writing about it, giving their recommendations for the best deals. From my perspective, a “good deal” is very personal. If it saves you money on a vacation you have planned, you should jump on it. Unless you travel a lot, I wouldn’t recommend buying points “speculatively” to have them sit in your account – you never know when the next devaluation of that point currency will occur, so you want to use them as soon as possible.
So, look at your travel plans for the year and see if any of the sales will work for you. The Marriott gift cards (April 17th, 20% off) and Expedia hotel coupon (April 22nd, 35% off) are pretty easy to use. Hyatt points (April 10th) and Club Carlson points (today) are good values, especially if you travel during expensive high season (aka school vacations). You can see the calendar for this week below:
And you can find the calendar for the rest of the sales events here! Good luck and hope you can save some money on your next trip.
