Summer is a busy time for hotels all around the world. Even some Asian destinations that experience their rainy season during the Northern summer are receiving a growing number of tourists. That makes it difficult to find hotel bargains and there are slim pickings for hotel reward program promotions. So, here are the ones I registered for to maximize my hotel reward points during summer:
Accor: The Accor group has been relentless in releasing private sales for discounted rooms (every week) and for point promotions. They have declared war on the hotel booking portals and are determined to get more guests to book directly with them. I signed up for their “Triple Points across Asia” promotion. It’s valid from March 16th to July 31st at over 500 hotels across Asia. As an Accor LeClub regular member you earn 5% rewards in their revenue-based program, so that makes for a 15% reward rate for everybody. As a Gold LeClub member, it is 21%. Those are great reward rates – you can sign up for the promotion here!
Club Carlson: After the disastrous devaluation of their program and the associated credit card (read all the bad news here), Club Carlson is throwing their members a bone and offering a combination of promotions: For credit card holders, there is a one-time 30,000 point bonus for paying any stay at a Carlson property with the Club Carlson credit card. No sign-up is needed and I’m planning to use my card – once and for a one-night stay to collect those points. Even under the new rules, that’s at least $90 in value! In addition, you can earn triple points for stays through June 28th by registering here, get 25% of reward stays in Latin America through July 31st and earn a mobile booking bonus for using their app! I won’t be able to make use of the triple points or Latin American stays, but will make my bookings through the mobile app!
Hilton: The Hilton HHonors rewards program is offering double points through August 31st. While that is not a lot, I did sign up for it just in case. I wouldn’t want to miss the opportunity and with so many Hilton hotels around, there is always a chance I might end up in one! You can choose between double points and double miles – I’m all in for the points – and you can register here.
As always, it only takes a few minutes to register and there is no downside, so I recommend that you sign up for any promotions in programs you participate in.
