Fantastic Foto Friday: Lumpini Park, urban oasis in busy Bangkok, Thailand

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I love the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, The City of Angels and Thailand’s capital. It’s a city that never stops and the crowds can be overwhelming to first-time visitors. But if you just need to get away from the crowds, fear not, there are plenty of places to escape in the heart of this city and Lumpini Park is one of the biggest and nicest places to go. You can go for a walk through the greenery, watch the sunset over the lake or watch locals exercising or playing volleyball. And then you can dive back into the city life!

Fantastic Foto Friday: Visit the site of the Old Royal Palace at Ayutthaya from Bangkok, Thailand

Wat Phra Si Sanphet, Ayutthaya, Thailand

Bangkok is a fascinating and lively city. If you have seen the Grand Palace, Wat Po and Wat Arun and want to still learn more about the history of Thailand, you can do an easy day trip to Ayutthaya, the former capital of the Kingdom of Siam that was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767, leading to Bangkok becoming the capital. Start your visit with Wat Phra Si Sanphet – the “Temple of the Holy, Splendid Omniscient”.

Fantastic Foto Friday: Singapore – a melting pot of cultures

I call Singapore “Asia for Beginners” because you can find the vast diversity of Asia in the small city state, giving you a chance to see the architecture, religion and culture of different groups all in reach of a simple subway ride.
The Buddha Tooth Relic Temple in Chinatown is a great example. Once you step inside, you’ll be overwhelmed by the sight of 100s of buddha statues along the wall. It’s an amazing experience and worth a visit on your trip to Singapore.

Fantastic Foto Friday: Huge Crododiles in Chobe National Park

I’m not a big fan of crocodiles, so I was glad to see them from a boat! That’s one of the unique things about Chobe National Park in Botswana – you can see much of the park on a boat cruise, especially elephants and crocodiles. And it’s best during sunset for a truly magic experience.
We did it as part of our tour from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, an adventure of a life time!

Fantastic Foto Friday: Pura Luhur Batukaru, Bali

Most people visit Bali for the beautiful beaches, but you can also find a rich history and more temples than anybody could visit in one trip. One of the most impressive temples is a little off the beaten path – you get to enjoy it with fewer people!

Fantastic Foto Friday: Beach Club Life on Bali

Potato Head Beachclub

Bali is one of my favorite islands and has fantastic beaches that invite to long walks, surfing and swimming. Many people come to Bali for the excellent beach clubs, that offer beach time in luxury, with lounge or party music, food and drinks all day. PotatoHead in Petitenget is one of the most popular ones. Having a drink while watching the sunset from a seat in the pool isn’t the worst way to end your vacation day…

Fantastic Foto Friday: Bangkok, the most popular destination in the world, again!

Bangkok, the City of Angels, has been crowned the most popular destination in the world, again, receiving more visitors than any other city in the world. I’m sure shopping is a contributor to that success. There are so many malls throughout the city center along Sukhumvit Road, from extravagant malls like the EmQuartier above to the old-style markets, everybody will find something!

Singapore Changi Airport Jewel, Waterfall

Singapore is the perfect start for your first trip to South East Asia: It’s safe, well organized and great public transport makes it easy to get around. English is the first language, making it easy to get acclimatized. And despite being such a modern city, there is plenty of nature to admire as well: It starts already at the Singapore Changi Airport – with the largest indoor waterfall in the world in the middle of a jungle, at the heart of the new Jewel!
