The Great Ocean Road is one of my favorite road trips, with stunning views all along the dramatic shore line. And the Twelve Apostle are the most amazing spot! It’s also a great getaway from Melbourne, with sandy beaches and small coastal towns to relax and enjoy a few days! If you like to drive, rent a car and try it out – it’s a trip of a lifetime!
Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, was planned to be the capital of Australia, settled by free immigrants and not convicts like the bigger cities Sydney and Melbourne. While that plan never quite worked out, you have a very walk-able city with historic buildings like the Glenelg Townhall, a pedestrian mall and nice parks. Or you can enjoy the surrounding wine country or head out for a road trip on the Great Ocean Road!
If you are looking to escape from the hustel and bustle of Sydney, Australia, you can head to the Chinese Garden at Darling Harbor. As soon as you leave the crowds of the city behind and step through the doors of the Chinese Friendship Garden, peace settles around you and you can enjoy the beautifully designed and maintained garden to … Continue reading
The Kirketon Boutique Hotel in Darlinghurst, Sydney, was one of the first stylish hotels to pop up in the neighborhood. I returned after many years and the hotel hasn’t changed much: You get a compact room with stylish (if aging) decor in a great location. The service has become friendlier and the prices are great value in an expensive city, … Continue reading
If you want to get out of bustling Melbourne for a relaxing day on the beach, it couldn’t be any easier: Just take the tram to St. Kilda and you’ll be walking along the shoreline in no time or stretch out on the white sand beach with a view over the water! This is just one of the aces up the sleeve of Australia’s second city!
Sydney is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and it was love on first sight for me – and the stunning harbor views with the iconic bridge – the locals say: hahhbahhh bridge – are a big wow factor for anybody visiting for the first time!
And I’m still stunned every time I see it on my many return visits, feeling compelled to take one more photo! I recommend to go and take your own photos, it’s worth it!
The Holiday Inn Potts Point in Sydney offers splendid harbor views with the Sydney skyline, bridge and Opera House. The old-fashioned rooms are big, service is friendly & competent and the location near Kings Cross is convenient and fun. It’s good value and I would recommend it to friends & family! … Continue reading
The Mercure Grosvenor Adelaide is a mid-scale hotel in a central location and offers basic rooms. The hotel is older and while the rooms are clean and look modern, they could use new carpets and paint here and there. The Mercure shares the building with an ibis hotel and they have parking and a restaurant. … Continue reading
Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia, was planned to be the capital of Australia, settled by free immigrants and not convicts like the bigger cities Sydney and Melbourne. Those plans led to a neat grid of streets in the center of Adelaide, surrounded by a ring of parks. While that plan never quite worked out, it left a compact … Continue reading
For a trip down the Great Ocean Road in Australia, one of the best road trips in the world, we needed a stop over and I was looking for a good night’s sleep in the beach towns on the Surf Coast. I picked the Coastal Motel in Apollo Bay and was pleased. It’s simple, but clean and offered a large, … Continue reading
