While most visitors to Taiwan focus on Taipei, Taiwan has some amazing wilderness to explore. The mountains across the island are steep, the forests dense and the mountain streams crystal clear. My favorite place to hike is Taroko Gorge, a short high-speed train ride from Taipei, Taiwan. It’s a great nature getaway from the busy city and worth a side trip!
But it all starts in Taipei, so check out my Destination Guide Taipei to plan your own trip to Taiwan!
Visiting Africa to see its wildlife is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and Etosha National Park in Namibia is a great place to do it! You can hang out at the waterholes and watch the wildlife come to you or you can go on wildlife drives, trying to find animals across the park. Either way, you’ll have an amazing experience!

Victoria Falls, on the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe, is one of the most impressive natural sights to experience. The local name translates to the “smoke that thunders” and is an opt description for the masses of water crushing over the cliff in noise and clouds of mist! The double rainbow on my visit made it a lot less threatening and added to the m(y)istery of the visit!

Luang Prabang is one of the most relaxed towns I’ve ever visited. Located on the confluence of two rivers, dotted with temples and inhabited by friendly, all the things that make for a relaxing stay. And if even this quaint town is too much – don’t worry, a boat trip on the Mekong river to visit local villages and a cave full of buddha statues are about as mellow as can be! All you have to do is enjoy the scenery and lunch!

I love the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, The City of Angels and Thailand’s capital. It’s a city that never stops and the crowds can be overwhelming to first-time visitors. But if you just need to get away from the crowds, fear not, there are plenty of places to escape in the heart of this city and Lumpini Park is one of the biggest and nicest places to go. You can go for a walk through the greenery, watch the sunset over the lake or watch locals exercising or playing volleyball. And then you can dive back into the city life!

I’m not a big fan of crocodiles, so I was glad to see them from a boat! That’s one of the unique things about Chobe National Park in Botswana – you can see much of the park on a boat cruise, especially elephants and crocodiles. And it’s best during sunset for a truly magic experience.
We did it as part of our tour from Cape Town to Victoria Falls, an adventure of a life time!
Singapore Changi Airport Jewel, Waterfall
Singapore is the perfect start for your first trip to South East Asia: It’s safe, well organized and great public transport makes it easy to get around. English is the first language, making it easy to get acclimatized. And despite being such a modern city, there is plenty of nature to admire as well: It starts already at the Singapore Changi Airport – with the largest indoor waterfall in the world in the middle of a jungle, at the heart of the new Jewel!

Kok River, Chiang Rai, Thailand
Bangkok, the City of Angels, was just ranked the No1 visited city in the world, again. And once you had enough of the bustling city, you could escape to Chiang Rai, the peaceful city in Northern Thailand, near the infamous Golden Triangle, and relax with great river views like this.

Lisbon is a vibrant city with lots of things to see and do.
