Poznan in Western Poland had a long history and the city has managed to bring it into the modern day: This old brewery tower is now part of a modern mall, making for a great backdrop do your meal!

Wroclaw in Poland has a turbulent history and has emerged as a colorful city that’s beautifully restored and vibrant. And while I enjoyed the beautifully restored old town and church island the most, there is a modern side to Wroclaw, too. It’s easy to explore with a walk through the compact city!

Bratislava, Slovakia, is one of the overlooked cities in central Europe. It has a rich history, offers great food and lots to see & do at prices that are a fraction of what you’ll pay in popular Vienna or Prague. While Phnom Penh is known for it’s Royal Palace, a leisurely stroll along the river promenade at sunset will also take you past some impressive temples. Wat Ounalom in Phnom Penh’s downtown is my favorite!

Angkor Wat and its famous temples are one of the most amazing historic destinations I’ve visited – and it’s one of my most recommended places to go! One of the less visited sites is Kbal Spean. At this unique site, you’ll find 1,000s of lingas carved into the riverbed for fertility and prosperity! And you’ll get to enjoy it in the cool of the forest with fewer visitors than elsewhere in Siem Reap no less! It doesn’t hurt, that Siem Reap is also the cheapest city in Asia for 5-star hotels – so, feel free to be pampered after visiting the temples!

Wroclaw, Poland’s fourth-largest city has an interesting, if difficult history. One symbol you can find all-over the city are the small dwarfs. They started as the symbol of the anti-communist movement and you can now find many of them across town, for different guilds, a prison dwarf or even washing dwarfs on the river.
