This is a good week for award travelers in Germany – both AirBerlin and Lufthansa are offering discounted award tickets for the coming months.
Flights: AirBerlin has another one of their regular topbonus topdeals promotions. You can book award tickets to select destinations at discounted rates with as much as 75% off! Some of my favorite offers are (all one-way economy):
Berlin – Budapest: 10,000 -> 2,500 miles
Berlin – Copenhagen 10,000 -> 2,500 miles
Berlin – New York 25,000 -> 17,500 miles
Berlin – Boston new -> 15,000 miles
There are also similar deals from Cologne or Dusseldorf. Keep in mind that you still have to pay taxes and fees, so flights are not “free”. You can find all the routes on sale here!
If you don’t have enough AirBerlin miles to book a flight, they still show you some Christmas love and have routes on sale for cash purchase! Some of the best deals are from Germany to North America with fares to Chicago from EUR321 and New York from EUR374. There are also offers to Asia, including Shanghai from EUR493 and Hong Kong EUR521!
Looks like Lufthansa didn’t want to be left out in the cold (pun intended) and is offering their “Meilenschnaeppchen”, a similar promotion of discounted award flights! The great news is that there are also deals on Business Class, so you can get the most value out of your miles: Some examples for good deals are (all round-trip):
Germany – Beijing (Business): 135,000 -> 70,000 miles
Germany – Shanghai/Beijing/Hongkong (Economy) 80,000 -> 40,000 miles
Germany – New York/Boston/Washington (Economy): 60,000 -> 30,000 miles
Germany – Bangkok/Seoul (Business): 135,000 -> 70,000 miles
