Deal Dispatch: Airfare Sales around the world!

Have you read the “secret” that you should be buying your air tickets on a Tuesday? It’s a much circulated myth that doesn’t hold up to the real world. The best time to buy a ticket is really more and more during sales events – the airlines have wide sales to get a base load for their planes, often far in advance, or more specific sales to fill up routes that are not doing as well as expected. So, here are some great sales that will get you the best deals, even on a Wednesday or Thursday!

Qatar is running – again – their big promotion, the “Travel Festival“, with great deals throughout their network for economy and premium cabins. You have to book by September 6th, 2016 for travel from September 15th, 2016 to June 30th, 2017. You’ll have to poke around to find the best fares for you. Here are some examples:
QatarSale 201608Atlanta – Hyderabad: Economy from $685
Munich – Bangkok: Economy from EUR419
Berlin – Johannesburg: Economy from EUR459
Colombo – Boston: Business from $1126
Manila – Copenhagen: Economy from $503
They have a sample of sales fares for each departure country. You can check them for an idea of what routes are on sale. But do go and try to book – some great deals are not listed. If your travel dates are flexible, you can use the “more dates” feature for a calendar of prices for two months at a time to find the best deals! It’s an especially good time to purchase business class fares – for example business class between Asia and Europe is under $2,000 – similar to what Premium Economy on Lufthansa or Singapore airline will cost! You can search the deals and book here!
Qatar is a member of the OneWorld alliance, so you can earn miles on American Airlines (based on distance and not revenue!), British Airways, Cathay Pacific or any of their other partners!

KLM is running their World Deal Weeks with more than 100 destinations on sale from their hub in KLM Sale 201608Amsterdam. Some examples are:
Amsterdam to the Caribbean in Economy from EUR496
Amsterdam to North America in Economy from EUR474
Amsterdam to China in Economy from EUR489
You have to book by September 13th, 2016 for travel through March 31st, 2017 and you can find the deals here! KLM is a member of SkyTeam alliance, so you can earn miles in their program FlyingBlue or with Delta or one of their other partner airlines!
