Eurowings Business Class now available to the US!

Eurowings announced their new business class last year and now you can book the flights with fares starting at EUR799 from Duesseldorf, Germany, to New York, Miami, Fort Myers, Punta Cana or Cancun! With fully flat seats, priority check-in, security and boarding, more luggage and better meals, this is a true business class offering at competitive prices – read more details below!

Eurowings is utilizing former Lufthansa Airbus A340 planes for this new long-haul service from Duesseldorf, replacing bankrupt airberlin at that airport! So, the business class seats are no surprise – they are exactly the same as the “old” business class on Lufthansa, with 3 rows of fully flat seats in a 2-2-2 layout (read my Lufthansa Business Class review to find out more about those seats). While they don’t offer all-aisle access, they are flat, comfortable and miles ahead of other low-cost carrier’s “premium” offering.

Eurowing BIZclass also gets you generous check-in luggage (2 pieces up to 32kg), priority check-in lines at the airport and security, lounge access and priority boarding. The seats have 15in screens for video entertainment and you get full meals, including alcoholic drinks on board.
As an introductory offer and for a limited time through June 30, 2018, you’ll also earn double reward miles in Eurowings boomerang or Lufthansa Miles & More loyalty programs.

The A340 planes will also feature a Premium Economy class, called “Best”, with three rows of wider seats in a 2-3-2 layout and more legroom.

Interestingly enough, Eurowings is also introducing a BIZclass on short-haul flights operated by single-aisle planes. You have the same privileges as described above and the onboard product matches European business class, leveraging standard economy class seats with more legroom and empty middle seats.

Bottomline: The introduction of business class and premium economy cabins positions Eurowings somewhere between a low-cost carrier and a second-tier, full-service airline. By using Duesseldorf as a hub, Eurowings is filling the gap left by airberlin’s collapse at this airport.
While the “old” Lufthansa seats are not leading edge in business class, this is the best premium product on any low-cost carrier. I’m especially impressed that Eurowings is not just offering a better seat (like AirAsia with their Premium Flatbed), but full business class service and amenities. And with reasonable prices, I can’t wait to try this out for a more comfortable flight across the Atlantic. I will write a review as soon as I do!
