The healthiest food in Manila – SaladStop

Filipino food is very delicious, with  favorites like Lechon – roasted pig, but it is also very rich and not the healthiest food on the planet. Thankfully, Manila now offers some great healthy options and SaladStop is one of my favorites. With a selection of signature salads and wraps and the option to create your own, you can have a healthy meal fresh from the source!

SaladStop has a number of locations across Metro Manila and I’m a frequent guest at the Bonifacio Global City location at Central Square (High Street & 7th Ave) as well as in Makati at the Salcedo branch on Leviste Street.
Each location is bright and clean, but simple with a long counter to order and watch your meal being made.
MNL Saladstop - 3SaladStop has a list of signature meals, each available as salad or a wrap, like the Hail Ceasar (a classic ceasar salad) or Omega Baby.
MNL Saladstop - 1You can customize each of them, for example add some grilled chicken to the caesar. Or, you can design your own salad or wrap from scratch by picking and choosing from the long list of ingredients in front of you. You find anything from basic green salads, tomatoes, cucumbers or peppers to newly popular quinoa as well as tuna or chicken or croutons. They are fresh and from the source and I found them to be of consistently high quality.

Basic salads and wraps are around $6, but watch out for your custom salads – the add-ons can drive up the price quickly and a $15 salad is very pricey for Manila!  You can complement your meal with tasty potato chips or healthy kale chips and finish up with an ice cream. A selection of drinks is also available, although that’s the one selection I have been disappointed with – I haven’t found a favorite yet!
Seating is available at cafeteria style, with basic wooden tables and chairs. The BGC location also has outdoor seating in the lively square, but the Salcedo location is very small, a better fit for take-out.

MNL Saladstop - 5If you are looking for a healthy lunch or dinner in Manila, it doesn’t get much better than SaladStop – with fresh, healthy salads and wraps well worth their price! If you find the seating to be too simple for your taste, SaladStop also offers take-out or delivery to have a healthy meal at home – try it out!
