Relax after a Day of Sightseeing in Tallinn – Kalev Spa & Wellness

If you are tired after a walking tour of Tallinn’s Old Town or are stuck on a rainy day, you can check out the Kalev Spa & Wellness Center. It’s operated by the Kalev hotel and sits on the border of the Old Town and the new city center. You have access to a water park, a full fitness center and a spa, all for a reasonable fee. It’s a good choice to relax for a few hours in the heart of Tallinn!

The biggest part of the center is the olympic-size 50m pool for swimming laps. It has separate lanes for swim teams, individual swimmers and, well, splashers, all getting along pretty easily. There are also a 25m pool, a small children’s pool and a kiddie play pool as well as two long slides. Once you had enough of the exercise, you can enjoy the wellness area with various jaccuzzi and wellness pools to hang out and relax. You have access to multiple dry saunas and a steam room, some mixed in the pool area and one each in the men’s and women’s changing rooms.  If you’d rather have a dry workout, you can head to the gym upstairs with cardio equipment, weight equipment and free weights, as well as a spin studio and group courses.  If you are looking for a little pampering instead, you can get a massage at the spa!

TAL KalevGymThe gym, pool and wellness are fairly well maintained and pretty clean. While it’s not as sparkling as a spa at an upscale hotel, it’s comparable with a public pool and in good shape considering the price point. The photos are courtesy of Kalev’s web site – I didn’t think it would be a good idea to bring a camera to the pool and sauna!

A full pass gives you access to all of the above for 3 hours for EUR14.50. There are a number of other passes available to the water park or packages including wellness and a massage at reasonable prices. You can find the full price list here!
