If you want to stay on Bali’s most popular beach, stretching from Kuta to Seminyak, Legian in the center offers a good compromise in terms of price and location. The all seasons Legian is an inexpensive, midscale hotel in the Accor Group with colorful rooms and resort pool in walking distance from the beach. It’s not the newest or nicest, but offers good value in the heart of South Bali!

I stayed at the all seasons the first time during my ASEAN Explorer trip and returned recently due to the great price during an Accor Private Sale! I have updated my review based on this latest stay!

Location: The all seasons Legian is located one block from the beach in the heart of Legian. Because the beach resorts are blocking access to the beach, the walk is about 15 minutes along the road and through a narrow, dark alley.
The road in front of the hotel is a busy one-way street, but I didn’t find noise to be an issue. There are plenty of stores, restaurants and massage shops in the neighborhood, so you will find everything you might need in close proximity.
The trip from the airport is about 30-40 minutes and costs about IDR80,000 by official airport taxi.

Service & Rewards: The service at the all seasons was significantly better than on my previous stay. The front desk was friendly and welcomed me warmly. 
Housekeeping was a bit of a mixed bag: They cleaned the room thoroughly each day, but I didn’t receive a full set of towels till my last day!
The restaurant staff was most improved: They were friendly and attentive each day, despite the restaurant being crowded in a sold-out situation. They kept the buffet stocked and the make-to-order egg station was friendly and would bring the dish to my table, when there was a wait.
As a Accor LeClub Platinum member, they did work with me to assign a nice room. I rejected the initially assigned room as too noisy – it was facing the lobby and street – and they found a pool facing room in the back off the property that was much quieter and I’d consider a half-upgrade. They also offered a welcome drink with a choice of soft drinks or coffee for Silver/Gold members and added cocktails for Platinum members. 

Room: Similar to other ibis hotels, the rooms are very functional and sport a modern design with bright colors. The room had a large, comfortable bed and a day bed partially overlooking the pool. There is also a desk and a chair in the corner that I used to work at the desk. Near the entrance is an open closet area, with the safe and hangers on one side, a full-length mirror in the middle and a fridge and tea/coffee facilities on the other side.
The bathroom had been renovated. While my room on the first stay and the initially assigned room on this trip sported colorful micro-tiles that showed their age (on the right), the bathroom on this stay had been partially renovated in beige/brown tones with new tiles and micro-tile accent strip. The vessel sink on the counter top, the red wall and mirror behind it and the toilet were hold-overs from before. There are shelves above the sink for your toiletries. There is a single soap/shampoo dispenser for the shower and sink. While I generally like the eco-friendly dispensers, having only one that is akward to reach from both places seems like cost savings in the wrong spot.

The WiFi internet was also significantly improved. It was much more reliable and fast with an average speed of 6.6Mbps. In the evening it slowed down to 1.7Mbps, but it was enough to browse the internet, get work done or even stream movies. 

Amenities/Restaurant: The hotel surrounds a large, resort-style pool with plenty of trees and loungers around it, making the pool one of the key selling points: If you have kids, don’t want to trek to the beach or just enjoy the clean, cool water of the pool, it’s a nice place to relax. The hotel was sold out during my second stay, but I was still able to find a lounger in the morning or later in the afternoon.
The restaurant had not only improved its service, but also the food quality: The breakfast buffet offered good quality pastries, fresh fruit and yogurt as well as a make-to-order egg station and a selection of other hotel local and international dishes. They also have a bar in the lobby and by the pool, the latter offering a popular happy hour. The restaurant also serves lunch and dinner, but I didn’t try it out.
Oddly, the hotel doesn’t have an elevator. It’s only three stories, so the steps were no issue for me, but if you have trouble with stairs, make sure to ask for a ground floor room!

Conclusion: The all season Legian is located near the beach and offers a modern room at a budget price. The large, resort style pool with trees around is a differentiator from other hotels in this price category. The improved service throughout the hotel made my second stay more pleasant and the renovated bathroom and improved WiFi internet help the hotel to stay up-to-date. At my rate of only $33/night during an Accor Sale, the all season is good value and I would consider it for a future stay.
