Destiny Boutique Hotel Seminyak Bali – nice rooms, great location and friendly service at a bargain price!

The Destiny Boutique Hotel in Seminyak, Bali, is only a few minutes walk from the beach in my favorite neighborhood and offers modern rooms and friendly service. You get a nice pool and great views from the rooftop, all at a bargain price, making this good value for a beach vacation on Bali! It’s worth a look, if you are looking for good value in Bali’s most popular neighborhood!

Location: The Destiny Boutique Hotel Seminyak is located in Bali’s upscale Seminyak neighborhood, near Jl Camplung Tanduk with its many bars and restaurants. The beach is less than 10 minutes walk and is one of my favorite stretches of sand on Bali – you can walk to either side as far as the eye can see. You are also a short stroll along the beach from Double Six with its many sunset beach bars! The Bali airport is 30-45 minutes by car and the ride is approx. IDR100,000 by taxi or IDR50,000 with ride hailing services. I like the neighborhood – it’s not as crazy busy as Kuta, you have access to nicer restaurants, bars and spas and you have the best beach nearby!

Service: The staff at the Destiny Boutique Hotel Seminyak is very friendly and attentive. My room wasn’t quite ready when I arrived prior to the official check-in time and staff pointed me to the pool to hang out and gave me internet access to make use of the time. I received breakfast vouchers as well as a voucher for a welcome drink at the rooftop bar. Staff showed me to my room and explained the features, always a nice touch at a mid-scale property.
Housekeeping had prepared the room well and cleaned each day, replacing toiletries and towels as appropriate, leaving everything fresh and in working order! Staff at the restaurant was just as helpful, showing the buffet and delivering made-to-order eggs to the table each day.
It’s this type of warm, friendly service – even at an inexpensive hotel like Destiny – that keeps me coming back to Bali. In the US or Europe you’ll have to book a hotel many times the price to receive similar attentive service.

Room: I booked the online and the nice rooms were a key factor in the decision. My standard King Room has light tile floors, raw wood furniture, a wooden headboard reaching up to the ceiling with a golden sun on it and colorful pillows and a bed throw as accents. While I probably wouldn’t decorate my home like that, it works well on Bali’s beach, is modern and has a bit of a Bali touch to it.

Next to the comfortable bed are side tables with lamps and power outlets. In the corner are a luggage bench and small wardrobe with a safe inside. The standard rooms have windows to the hallway, with a desk and table against the window, so you can get some work done.

You’ll find a Sheer and blackout curtains are provided for privacy. This is not my favorite layout and I’d consider an upgrade to the Pool View Rooms that trade a little space for a balcony and pool & city views – they are only a few dollars more! A mini-fridge, tea/coffee facilities and a flatscreen TV are provided.

The bathroom is held in beige/brown tiles, with a sink-on-countertop near the door, the toilet in the middle and a walk-in shower in the corner. It’s big enough, has a partial glass enclosure and a trickle shower that could use some extra oohmph! You receive a full set of toiletries, hair dryer and clean towels. The bathroom feels a lot nicer than you’d expect based on the tiles and glass, although the toiletries are pretty basic.

Restaurant & Amenities: Another winner is the groundfloor pool: it’s nicely designed with some greenery to hide the city-location. There are nice loungers around the pool, but there are not very many, so you’ll have to be quick in the morning to snatch one. Next to the pool is a small bar, so you don’t have to leave the pool and can settle in for a relaxing day.

For a relaxing evening, I recommend to head up to the rooftop bar. It’s modern and colorful in decor and you get killer-views at sunset over the city and the ocean.

My favorite spot was the swinging chair, perfect to say goodbye to a day by the ocean.

The included breakfast is served at the groundfloor restaurant buffet-style. It’s pretty limited, even for the price category. Coffee and tea are provided as hot water with instant coffee and tea bags. You have a limited selection of fruit, toast and small pastries. You can order eggs of your choice from the staff to fill out your first meal of the day. It’s enough to get you started, but not as good as other hotels in the price category.

Bottomline: I booked the Destiny Boutique Hotel Seminyak Bali on short notice for only $35/night including breakfast (find current prices here). You get a great location on the nicest beach of Southern Bali, very nice rooms and friendly service as well as beautiful rooftop views and a nice pool – and that makes it great value. The breakfast is a weak spot, but I’d call it good enough. If you are looking for an affordable hotel on Bali’s best city-beach, the Destiny Boutique Hotel is a good choice!
