If you haven’t had enough history in Lisbon, Europe’s most underrated capital, or just want to enjoy the cooler mountains, Sintra is a great getaway from Lisbon, easy to do as a day-trip. And Pena Palace was my favorite sight on the trip, with it’s different styles from different ages all combined into one castle that looks like straight out of a Disney fairy tale!

I consider Lisbon, Portugal’s capital, one of the most underrated cities in Europe. And if you want to combine it with a beach getaway, you can be in charming Cascais in less then an hour to hang out on the beach, enjoy the beautiful palace above, the fortress or the pedestrian area with its many restaurants and stores!
Many people love the Algarve, some people say that the Algarve sold their soul to the devil of mass tourism. Yet, I had no trouble finding a long & wide stretch of sand with few people to share it!
