Travel News: New seaplane service from Manila to the islands – Air Juan

We loved the sea plane transfer on our visit to the Conrad Rangali Maledives – the non-stop service created an end-to-end luxury experience that’s hard to match. The Philippines has many islands and beaches even more beautiful than the Maledives and there is a growing number of upscale resorts, but so far the commercial flights from Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila are time consuming and often far from a luxury experience. Not anymore – Air Juan is now offering seaplane service from Manila Bay to a number of islands and resorts, saving several hours and the headaches of commercial flight in the process!

Air Juan has been offering flights to Palawan and other island destinations in the past with their Cessna Grand Caravan nine-seater propeller planes in the past. Now, they have added the seaplane version of the plane and are offering scheduled flights to a number of islands and resorts! You can fly directly to Boracay Island or to luxury resorts in Coron (Palawan Province), for example Busuanga Bay Lodge, the Two Seasons or Huma Resorts with its over water bungalows! There is only one flight per day and it is showing the same schedule for the three Palawan resorts – I’m not sure if you will have multiple stops at the different resorts or how they will handle it. Prices are around $500 round-trip – that’s similar to flights in the Maledives, but certainly a lot more than a commercial flight to the islands on Philippine Airlines or Cebu Pacific

If you want a luxury experience in the Philippines, you now have a choice to create an end-to-end luxury experience! You can fly in premier cabin to Manila, stop over at the excellent Sofitel Manila or Hyatt City of Dreams near Manila Bay and connect to the beautiful islands of Coron or Boracay and be pampered by Filipino hospitality. I hope I will have a chance to try this out sometime soon – my readers will be the first to know! You can find the flights, schedules and prices as well as more information about the airline here!

  1. Besides coron and Boracay, also try the beautiful Panglao, Alona beach, and the up and coming Siargao… … Boracay is light years ahead of the rest for size of tourist infrastructure, but for quality the islands around coron and new hotels in Alona beach, Amorita and Heinan are better than Boracay now … and better value and much less crowded than Boracay..

    • I agree – Panglao, Bohol, is a great alternative – I’ve been and look forward to go back! I have not been to Siargao but it’s high on my list. The flights through Cebu make it a longer trip that I’ll have to work out…
