Rodeway Inn is a budget brand of Choice Hotels with over 500 properties in the US and Canada. They are mostly smaller motels outside the big cities and focus on the basics for a stay on a budget! Find out who they are and what experience you can expect at a Rodeway Inn!
Who are they? Rodeway Inn was founded in 1962 and acquired by Choice Hotels in 1990. At the beginning of 2016, there were 513 properties in the US and 4 in Canada, with 49 more under development. Many of them are roadside motels with exterior corridors in 2nd and 3rd tier towns across rural America, competing with other motel brands like Wyndham’s Days Inn or Motel 6. .
Choice Hotels describes them as follows:
“GOOD NIGHT. GREAT SAVINGS.
Forget about fancy when all you need is a solid deal on a simple stay—Rodeway Inn hotels are just what you’re looking for. When you’re traveling on a budget, Rodeway Inn hotels offer the travel basics with the reliability and security of a national brand you can trust. So you can get the rest you need for wherever travel takes you. “
That’s refreshingly honest – forget about fancy! Rodeway Inn promises a simple stay for a low price and the reliability of a national brands and not much more!
What experience can I expect? Rodeway Inn is not promising much. They advertise free wifi, local calls, coffee in the morning and HBO as key features, so you have a good idea how basic your stay will be. Many Rodeway Inns are conversions, few are newly built, so you can expect an older roadside motel with exterior hallways and parking outside in most cases.
A free breakfast, promised by other budget chains, is optional by property, and so are an in-room coffee maker, safe, fridge or other amenities. That means your experience will very much depend on the individual hotel management, so I suggest to read online reviews careful to check on maintenance, cleanliness and amenities. My Review of the Rodeway Inn South Lake Tahoe gives you an overview of a well managed Rodeway Inn that’s about as good as you can expect from this brand.
One positive aspect is that Rodeway Inn participates in the Choice Privileges rewards program, so you can earn and redeem points and stays (typically) qualify for promotions! So, if you just need a clean room for the night at the lowest possible price, the Rodeway Inn might fit the bill!
